Review: Splashlands At Stanborough Park

Hertfordshire’s newest splash park has opened at Stanborough Park in Welwyn Garden City, in Hertfordshire. The pirate themed splash pad covers 600m2 and includes a large wooden pirate ship, swings and rockers too if you get bored of splashing!

Entry is free although you will need to pay for parking (residents can apply for discounted parking). Worth bearing in mind that there is current a limit in place of 130 people admitted per hour – new people are only allowed in at the end of that session and you cannot book.

The design thoughtfully includes areas shaded with sails and a lush grassy hill that offers a good view of the splash pad. If you want a proper seat, you might want to bring a chair along though.

Food and drink isn’t allowed inside the splash park to avoid water contamination, but there is plenty of space for a picnic outside the fenced area. There are also 5 changing cubicles and toilets next to the splash park.

Stanborough Park itself offers a whole day’s worth of entertainment including a stream near the splash park for more paddling (bring shoes to go in the water and a net!) and lots more.

I’ve been to a few splash parks in the past 6 years of my life and I think this might be the best. Will definitely be back soon!

This review was written in July 2020 when COVID measures were in place including limiting entry to 130 at a time. This meant queuing on a hot day to manage the numbers – bear this in mind when planning your trip.
