ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

One of our family’s favourite zoos, ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is the UK’s largest Zoo, set in 600 acres of scenic landscape looking across the Downs.

There are lots of animals to see here from penguins to pygmy hippos and giraffes. I’d recommend transportation for little legs as everything is quite space apart – we usually take scooters but there is also a bus offering a hop on – hop off service.

You can can also visit some of the animals, including the elephants, is the Jumbo Express steam train (additional charges apply).

Next to the farmyard is Hullabazoo Indoor Play – a fantastic play centre included in your entry price. On busy days it’s a good idea to book your time slot early as numbers are limited.

There is also a large outdoor adventure playground with someone for all ages – the perfect location to watch the train go by.

There are plenty of options to buy food at the zoo. Choose from Base Camp restaurant complete with electronic ordering, River Cottage Kitchen and Deli and the Hullabazoo and Vistor Centre Cafes. You can also buy ice creams at other locations.

Book at least 2 days in advance for online discounts.
